Lithuania and the United States are jointly conducting training for High Mobility Artillery Rocket System crews at the General Silvestras Žukauskas Training Area in Pabradė. The activity brings together Composite Task Force Pergalė (Victory) of the Lithuanian Land Force Rocket Artillery Battery and the U.S. Army’s 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery Regiment.

The training is focused on maintaining and improving individual and collective skills required for independent and effective HIMARS command and maintenance. Lithuanian and U.S. personnel train together to ensure crews can operate the system efficiently while remaining interoperable with allied forces.

“Joint training ensures persistent improvement of servicemembers’ expertise to meet top NATO standards, while the opportunity to train with the Allies facilitates sharing experience and consolidates interoperability,” said Rocket Artillery Battery Commander Maj. Justinas Čekanauskas. According to the Lithuanian Armed Forces, this cooperation supports readiness and alignment with NATO requirements.

The exercise includes training for fire control, repair and ammunition specialists, as well as HIMARS operators. Lithuanian and U.S. troops practice system maintenance and inspections, positioning, execution of fire tasks, winter truck driving, missile reloading and preparation of HIMARS for firing.

Lithuanian Land Force Rocket Artillery Battery personnel regularly cooperate with the U.S. 41st Field Artillery Brigade and V Corps and train with other U.S. and NATO allied and partner forces in Lithuania and abroad. These ongoing activities are intended to ensure thorough preparation for the successful integration of HIMARS into the Lithuanian Land Forces.
