These jets retain their original mission computer systems and underwing hardpoints with fully functional wiring for potential weapons delivery. Having first entered service in the mid-1990s, these L-39ZA/ART aircraft were retired by the RTAF in 2021, making them relatively modern additions to AEC Skyline’s fleet.
The acquisition forms part of a larger joint deal involving the International Test Pilots School (ITPS), the leading independent school for experimental flight testing. Both AEC Skyline and ITPS benefit from the transfer, which also includes spare engines and extensive stocks of spare parts, ensuring comprehensive operational support.
