Austria and Netherlands collaborate on C-390M aircraft procurement

The Austrian Ministry of Defence and the Dutch Ministry of Defence have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the procurement of the Embraer C-390M aircraft.

The Austrian Ministry of Defence and the Dutch Ministry of Defence have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the procurement of the Embraer C-390M aircraft.

 

The document indicates that the Netherlands will purchase nine of these advanced Embraer C-390 Millennium aircraft from Brazilian manufacturer, Embraer, with four designated for the Austrian Armed Forces. The delivery of the first aircraft to Austria is anticipated by 2027.

A spokesperson for the Austrian Ministry of Defence emphasized the significance of the agreement, stating, “This agreement marks a pivotal moment in our national defense strategy, strengthening our military capabilities and enhancing our international collaboration with the Netherlands.”

The Netherlands will act as the lead contracting partner, facilitating the finalization of negotiation details through the MoU. The Embraer C-390 Millennium is renowned for its advanced technology and efficiency, signaling a major upgrade over the older Hercules model.
