Axon Vision and CSG partner to integrate AI situational awareness in Czech armoured vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

Israeli defence technology company Axon Vision has announced a strategic partnership with the Czech Republic’s Czechoslovak Group (CSG) to modernise armoured vehicle fleets in Europe. The initial order, led by CSG subsidiary Retia, focuses on integrating Axon Vision’s AI-powered situational awareness system, EdgeSA, into the PANDUR 8×8 EVO vehicle.

The collaboration follows a competitive evaluation process in which EdgeSA demonstrated superior performance in all key areas. The agreement marks the beginning of a long-term relationship to deliver advanced battlefield capabilities to regional and global markets.

EdgeSA enhances situational awareness for armoured vehicle crews by fusing real-time data from multiple sensors. It provides early threat detection, reduces cognitive workload, and improves decision-making—even during closed-hatch operations.

The system is modular and platform-agnostic, allowing for integration across a range of vehicles. It supports both current and future platforms, including manned and unmanned systems used across land, sea, and air domains.

Retia has developed a dedicated product line under the brand SAAV (Situational Awareness for Armored Vehicles), which includes the EdgeSA system and the necessary integration services. This offering is designed to meet diverse vehicle requirements and support modernisation efforts throughout the European defence sector.

Jan Mikulecký, CEO of Retia, stated: “As part of our projects, which we carry out in cooperation with other companies within the CSG group, we create products for our customers that meet the highest standards. To achieve this, we need reliable and top-tier partners with high-tech products. That is why we chose to collaborate with Axon Vision on the PANDUR 8×8 EVO project.”

The partnership also aligns with the goals of Tatra Defence Vehicle (TDV), which manufactures both the PANDUR 8×8 EVO and the TADEAS 6×6. Future plans include potential integration of EdgeSA into the TADEAS platform and exploration of further applications across NATO markets.

Tomáš Mohapl, CEO of TDV, remarked: “Since its establishment, TDV has cooperated with Israeli companies, which enables us to offer our customers powerful and efficient armoured vehicles. These vehicles require high-quality electronic systems and software to operate effectively – and this applies to our latest models, the PANDUR 8×8 EVO and the TADEAS 6×6. So, we hope that our cooperation with Axon Vision will help us succeed with these vehicles on the most demanding markets.”

Commenting on the agreement, BG. (Ret.) Roy Riftin, CEO of Axon Vision, said: “Our AI-powered situational awareness technology is redefining armoured vehicle operations, delivering real-time, actionable intelligence that maximises survivability and mission effectiveness. This selection highlights Axon Vision’s growing presence in the European defence market and reinforces its role as an integrator of AI-driven defence solutions.”
