Baykar begins serial production of Kızılelma combat drone, first deliveries set for 2026

By Defence Industry Europe

Baykar Technologies has officially commenced serial production of its Bayraktar Kızılelma unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV), with deliveries to the Turkish Armed Forces scheduled for 2026. The announcement was made by Baykar’s Chairman of the Board, Selçuk Bayraktar, who confirmed the assembly of the sixth prototype is currently being finalised.

Bayraktar highlighted Turkey’s rapid progress in aviation technology, stating, “Turkey, which previously could not even design its own aircraft, has now become a global leader in unmanned aerial technologies.” He further noted, “We hold 65% of the global market, 60% of which belongs to Baykar.”

Emphasising the domestic nature of the project, Bayraktar said, “It is a complex aircraft, and all of its components are manufactured in Turkey.” He added, “Kızılelma is the first combat aircraft of its class to enter mass production—we achieved this before the United States of America and Israel.”

The Bayraktar Kızılelma is a jet-powered, carrier-capable UCAV featuring low radar visibility and high manoeuvrability. Developed for a wide range of combat missions, it is designed to operate alongside piloted aircraft and other unmanned systems in high-threat environments.
