The contracts include a 10-year maintenance agreement and a seven-year materiel support agreement, both with options to extend up to 20 years. Under these terms, MAS will support a fleet of nine Royal Canadian Air Force CC-330 Husky multi-role tanker and transport aircraft.
Work on the programme will be carried out by MAS teams based in Mirabel, Quebec. The company already provides mission systems and sustainment services for several Canadian military aircraft fleets.
The CC-330 Husky aircraft are designed to perform a range of missions, including in-flight refuelling, strategic airlift and medical evacuation. Officials said the contracts are intended to ensure continued operational readiness and mission availability.
“Our work will enhance Canada’s readiness for global challenges by enhancing the Royal Canadian Air Force’s ability to conduct in-flight refueling, strategic transport, medical evacuations and other critical missions,” said Ugo Paniconi.
“This award extends our commitment to delivering innovative and reliable solutions through the efforts of our 1,000 Canadian employees to meet Canada’s defence needs,” he added.
As part of the programme, L3Harris plans to create more than 60 skilled positions to support operations at newly established main operating bases. These include Edmonton International Airport and 8 Wing Trenton, which will serve as key hubs for the tanker fleet.
The company said it will reinvest the full value of the contracts into Canada under the country’s Industrial and Technological Benefits Policy. This is expected to support workforce development, sustainable aviation initiatives and broader defence capabilities.
L3Harris also plans to engage local suppliers as part of the programme. At least 15 percent of the work will involve small and medium-sized enterprises focused on research and development.
Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen Canada’s aerospace sector while supporting national security objectives. L3Harris has maintained a presence in Canada for more than six decades and remains a key supplier of defence and security solutions in the country.
