Building on its role during the design phase, CAE is now leading the development of training solutions for the River-class destroyer’s communications and integrated bridge and navigation systems. These efforts include training needs analysis, courseware development, and the delivery of advanced training to support mission and operational readiness.
In addition, CAE is providing human factors engineering services to help shape the design of key onboard spaces. This work ensures that ship design takes into account optimal usability and crew performance.
“Our advanced training solutions will equip the Royal Canadian Navy with world-class capabilities tailored to the specific needs of the River-class destroyer,” said France Hébert, CAE Division President, Defense & Security Canada and Global Operations Lead. “As we move into the implementation phase, we’re proud to ensure these critical capabilities are developed and maintained in Canada – strengthening national security and supporting long-term economic growth.”
The implementation subcontract for the River-class destroyer was awarded to Lockheed Martin Canada by prime contractor Irving Shipbuilding Inc. The programme is helping to reinforce Canada’s defence industrial base by engaging domestic defence contractors, generating skilled jobs, and supporting innovation in high-tech sectors.
