The Czech industrial and technology group CSG, owned by entrepreneur Michal Strnad, has launched a new company, AviaNera Technologies a.s., to lead its entry into the military Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and advanced weapons market. AviaNera will be responsible for the development, production, and trade of UAS technologies, marking a strategic expansion into high-tech defence.

The new company will work closely with Excalibur International a.s., CSG’s global trading agency with experience in large-scale defence projects and advanced weapon systems. “Our goal is to become a significant player in the field of military UAS and advanced weapon systems. Just as we managed within a few years to build a strong position in the small-caliber ammunition sector, we now aim to achieve something similar in the segment of high-tech defense technologies,” says Michal Strnad, owner and CEO of the CSG Group.

AviaNera will benefit from Excalibur International’s established commercial and project teams, which are already engaged in UAS technology deals and defence contracts worth hundreds of millions of euros. “Thanks to the close connection between Excalibur International and AviaNera, an experienced commercial and project team already active in trading UAS technologies and handling defense projects worth hundreds of millions of euros will work from the very beginning on developing CSG’s activities in this segment. What’s new is that we will be able to offer customers our own UAS systems, developed and manufactured fully in-house,” adds Miloš Šivara, CEO of Excalibur International.

Experienced executive Pavel Čechal, formerly CEO of PBS Group, has been appointed to lead AviaNera, where he is focused on rapidly building development and production capabilities for unmanned systems and their core components. “As in other sectors, we strive for maximum vertical integration so we can supply customers with final products and complete systems developed and manufactured directly by us. In doing so, we will make use of synergies with CSG companies active, for example, in ammunition production or software solutions for drone operations,” explains Pavel Čechal.

AviaNera is in active negotiations to acquire promising European companies and is forming partnerships in Ukraine, which is now a key centre of UAS technology innovation. The company is prioritising the development and production of propulsion units for unmanned platforms, including jet, turbofan, and shaft engines.

The name AviaNera combines a tribute to the aviation heritage of Letňany’s Avia with a signal of a new chapter in unmanned technology. “A breakthrough period is coming in aviation. In the future, virtually all missions currently carried out by manned aircraft can be performed by UAS. Technology is no longer the obstacle; it is rather legislation,” adds Pavel Čechal.

With the global defence UAS market expected to expand rapidly, CSG sees a strong opportunity in developing compact and efficient propulsion systems. “AviaNera has a strategic opportunity to become a key supplier of next-generation propulsion units for military unmanned applications,” concludes Pavel Čechal.
