3ME said its participation reflects the growing role of AUKUS Pillar II in enabling trusted defense technology collaboration among the three partner nations. The company will contribute its experience in mission-ready power systems to DIU’s rapid prototype-to-production effort.
The project will cover the standard EdgeVOLT configuration and a cold-weather variant using South 8 Technologies’ LiGas battery cells. Those cells are engineered to operate across a temperature range of -60°C to +60°C, supporting energy supply in extreme conditions.
EdgeVOLT is a rugged, modular system designed to provide portable power for defense, emergency response and remote industrial operations. It is intended for users working in demanding locations where reliable energy supply is required.
The system can power communications equipment, sensors, field infrastructure, autonomous platforms and other mission equipment. Its scalable architecture is designed to reduce reliance on conventional fuel-based generation while supporting operational endurance and energy resilience.
