Euro-GATR is a 70 mm guided rocket known for its high accuracy, operational flexibility, and cost efficiency. With a range of up to 10 kilometres, the system employs laser guidance with both “Lock On Before Launch” and “Lock On After Launch” capabilities.
The multipurpose warhead allows Euro-GATR to effectively engage lightly armoured vehicles and structures. According to Diehl Defence, the system is fast, versatile, and safe, having already been used successfully by advanced armed forces worldwide.
Integration of Euro-GATR into the Bundeswehr’s LCH fleet can be achieved swiftly using a Smart Rocket Launcher (SRL) or existing certified launchers with only minor modifications. This flexibility enables rapid deployment and enhanced battlefield performance.
Diehl Defence will act as the prime contractor for Euro-GATR in Germany, overseeing national industrial development, long-term maintenance, and logistics. The company has a longstanding track record as a trusted supplier to the German Army, Air Force and Navy.
“Euro-GATR offers a powerful, economical, and operationally proven armament for the LCH,” the companies stated, highlighting its contribution to the Bundeswehr’s operational readiness. They emphasised the rocket’s maturity and availability as key advantages in supporting rapid deployment needs.
The collaboration builds on the established relationship between Diehl Defence and Elbit Systems, which already includes joint work on the EuroPULS rocket artillery system. Both firms view this latest partnership as a step towards strengthening Germany’s defence capabilities with proven, modern technologies.
