The collaboration focuses on six key areas: airborne radar for multi-mission aircraft, anti-tactical ballistic missile defence, counter-drone and mobile surveillance systems, naval combat management systems, radio communications, and optronics commander sight technology. By aligning their expertise, EDGE and Leonardo aim to enhance their capabilities and expand their portfolios in these domains.
The agreement also establishes a framework for marketing joint solutions to governments across multiple countries. Additionally, it includes provisions for the development of shared intellectual property and future design innovations to support evolving operational requirements.
Hamad Al Marar, EDGE Group Managing Director & CEO, stated that the partnership builds on the relationship between the UAE and Italy and aligns with EDGE’s strategy of fostering international cooperation. He highlighted the potential benefits of combining expertise to develop advanced technological solutions.
Lorenzo Mariani, Co-General Manager of Leonardo, noted that the collaboration aims to address the growing importance of these defence sectors in a changing global landscape. He expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute to meeting the capability requirements of the UAE and other export markets.
