The project is set to span 34 months, bolstering the safety and operational effectiveness of the U.S. military’s armoured vehicles. The Iron Fist APS is a sophisticated Hard Kill system, designed to enhance the self-defence of light and heavy armoured platforms by neutralising modern battlefield threats.
As the Israel Defence Force’s Second-Generation APS, the Iron Fist system is distinguished by its high performance and low footprint in terms of volume, weight, and power. It offers comprehensive 360-degree protection against a range of anti-tank weapons, including Anti-Tank Rockets (ATR), Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), and loitering munitions. This capability is effective in both open and dense urban combat settings, ensuring versatility across different operational environments.
Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land, expressed the company’s pride in this latest contract. “This follow-on contract with our strategic partner, GD-OTS, emphasizes the high quality of our active protection system and its level of innovation,” he said. Vered highlighted Elbit Systems’ commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of the U.S. Armed Forces and other NATO partners, alongside continuous support for the Israeli Defence Forces.
