The projects are part of a modernisation process that will strengthen the capacities of the Moldovan Armed Forces to enhance operational effectiveness, accelerate compliance with EU standards and interoperability, and thereby better protect civilians in crises and emergencies. It will also strengthen Moldova’s capacities with regard to its participation in EU military CSDP missions and operations.
“As an implementing agency in Estonia, we have a great opportunity to contribute our skills and knowledge to international security and grow as the leader of the region’s procurement competence center and to enhance our competences as the leader of the project,” said Magnus-Valdemar Saar, Director General of the ECDI.
To enhance the national security, stability, and resilience of the Republic of Moldova in the defence sector, the European Union allocated 40 million euros from the European Peace Facility last year to to strengthen the capacities of the Moldovan Armed Forces’ logistics, mobility, command and control, cyber-defence, unmanned aerial reconnaissance and tactical communications services.
The ECDI and the e-Governance Academy are leading the international project to procure this equipment. The project will run until the end of 2025.
