Eva Karlsson appointed COO as Saab reshapes group management team

Swedish defence company Saab has announced key changes to its Group Management team as part of its ongoing transformation. The restructuring aims to strengthen operational excellence and streamline strategic focus.

Swedish defence company Saab has announced key changes to its Group Management team as part of its ongoing transformation. The restructuring aims to strengthen operational excellence and streamline strategic focus.

 

Eva Karlsson has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will join Saab’s Group Management team. She brings extensive experience from leadership roles at Dometic, Assa Abloy, and ABB, and will assume her new position by 1 August 2025.

With this appointment, Saab’s Group Operational Excellence organisation will now report under the COO role. As a result, Charlotta Björklund, currently Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence, will leave the Group Management team from 1 March 2025 and report to Karlsson.

Additionally, changes are being made to the Group Strategy function, which will now focus on Saab’s common strategic areas. Consequently, Christian Hedelin, currently Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, will leave the Group Management team from 1 March 2025 and report to Deputy CEO Anders Carp.

Micael Johansson, Saab’s President and CEO, highlighted the company’s transformation and the necessity for these changes. He expressed gratitude to Björklund and Hedelin for their contributions and welcomed Karlsson, emphasising her role in strengthening the company’s future growth.
