The Spanish Army had previously contracted Exosens through NVLS (Night Vision Lasers Spain) for AN/PVS14 monoculars in 2019, followed by deliveries of 16mm 4G tubes for 50° FOV binoculars to the Spanish Navy and Army. The new order strengthens Exosens’ position as a trusted supplier of night vision equipment.
The Army selected NVLS’s wide field of view (50°) monocular, which combines compact and lightweight design while enlarging the image size by 60% compared with conventional 40° monoculars. This ensures enhanced visibility and optimum situational awareness under all night-time conditions.
The new deal provides full coverage of 16mm 4G image intensifiers in 50° wide FOV monocular and binocular devices across the Spanish Armed Forces, making Spain the first country worldwide to universally adopt these modern high-performance systems. Exosens emphasised the unique optical design developed by NVLS, which offers an over 60% increase in viewing area without adding weight or bulk.
The 4G P45 white phosphor intensifier tubes used in the devices deliver high performance, including extended bandwidth, rapid auto-gating, minimal halo effects and high sensitivity. These features significantly boost operational range and situational awareness for soldiers and vehicle operators in night-time conditions.
Jorge de la Torre, CEO of NVLS, said: “We are delighted that the Spanish Army has once again chosen Exosens technology based on NVLS equipment and Photonis image intensifier tubes. This order confirms not only the quality and innovation of our technologies, but also our commitment to provide the best night vision solutions to European Armed Forces.”
