First Akeron LP missile firing from Tiger helicopter successfully conducted

By Defence Industry Europe

A significant milestone has been achieved in the development of the MAST-F (AKERON LP) missile system, as the first boosted missile firing from a Tiger Test Bed Helicopter was successfully carried out. The trial took place at the French DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement) Trial Centre in Cazaux, demonstrating key advancements in missile technology.

The prototype missile was fitted with a booster and a telemetry system to gather extensive data during the test. The primary objective was to evaluate the missile’s behaviour and ensure safe separation from the helicopter in the presence of aerodynamic disturbances.

This successful test follows the first long-range firing conducted a few weeks earlier. The achievement represents a major step forward for the MAST-F programme, which is managed by OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) on behalf of France.

The test was made possible through the close collaboration of key stakeholders, including MBDA, its subcontractors, DGA test centres, and OCCAR.
