The certification confirms GA-ASI’s adherence to the European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR), a framework based on commercial aviation safety standards. It allows approved organisations to carry out critical component maintenance while ensuring compliance with strict safety and documentation standards.
GA-ASI can now issue EMAR Form 1 Return to Service certificates for components maintained at its Poway and Adelanto facilities in California. The approval covers Category C maintenance, which relates specifically to aircraft components.
Company officials say the certification will help streamline maintenance operations and reduce costs for international customers. As many countries recognise EMAR standards, the approval may eliminate the need for separate national certification processes.
“This is a major milestone for GA-ASI,” said Sam Richardson, Vice President of Sustainment at GA-ASI. “It enhances our support for military users of the MQ-9 platforms worldwide and simplifies future airworthiness compliance.”
The approval is expected to support GA-ASI’s growth in global defence markets by demonstrating its ability to meet high international standards. It also reduces future oversight efforts through alignment with DSAÉ audit activities.
