General Dynamics Electric Boat wins $642 million contract for Virginia-class submarine support

General Dynamics Electric Boat has announced a $642 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification for Lead Yard Support and Development Studies and Design efforts linked to Virginia-class submarines. The award, detailed in the U.S. Department of War contract N00024-20-C-2120, is part of ongoing support for submarine production.

General Dynamics Electric Boat has announced a $642 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification for Lead Yard Support and Development Studies and Design efforts linked to Virginia-class submarines. Mark Rayha, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat, underlined the importance of the agreement. “This contract modification supports our efforts to deliver the submarines our Navy needs as quickly as possible,” he said.

He highlighted the broader national security implications of the investment. “This funding allows us to continue our design and development efforts in order to sustain and extend our nation’s operational overmatch against any potential adversaries. With the support of the administration, the Navy and Congress, we are prepared to deliver the advantage to protect our sailors, our families and our freedom,” Rayha added.

General Dynamics Electric Boat, a business unit of General Dynamics headquartered in Groton, Connecticut, designs, builds, repairs and modernises nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy. The company employs more than 24,000 people in its operations.
