“Today’s agreements are further confirmation of our commitment to Poland,” said Christopher Brown, Vice President of Global Strategy and International Business Development at General Dynamics Land Systems. “Together with our partners, we are building real production and service capabilities that will enable the further integration of Polish industry into the global Abrams supply chain into the future.”
Poland has ordered a total of 366 Abrams tanks, with all 116 M1A1FEP variants already delivered and in service with the Polish Land Forces. Eighty-five of the 250 SEPv3 Abrams have also been delivered, with the first shipment arriving in January 2025 and the final delivery scheduled for autumn 2026.
To ensure combat readiness of the fleet, GDLS and Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne (WZM) are expanding the Regional Sustainment Center in Poznań. The Ministry of National Defence has designated WZM as the entity responsible for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of M1 Abrams tanks in Poland, with GDLS acting as a strategic partner.
In May 2025, GDLS and WZM signed a framework agreement to support Poland’s Abrams fleet and tanks operated by other users in Europe. The first activity under this agreement was the launch of an industry training programme in June 2025, conducted by GDLS specialists to ensure high technical standards and operational readiness.
The Team Abrams ecosystem in Poland continues to expand. In April 2025, BAE Systems and WZM signed a licence agreement for fleet support of M88A2 recovery vehicles operated by the Polish Land Forces, with support also provided at the Regional Sustainment Center in Poznań.
