General Dynamics Mission Systems has received a follow-on contract to continue supporting the Trident II Strategic Weapon System. The agreement designates the company as the prime integrator for the Trident II Fire Control System.

The contract carries an initial order value of $255 million and combines cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-fixed-fee arrangements. It was awarded in January under the fiscal year 2026 Fire Control System omnibus contract.

Under the agreement, General Dynamics Mission Systems will continue to provide full life cycle and operational support for all deployed Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine fire control systems. The company will also support the development, production and installation of fire control systems for the new Columbia-class ballistic missile submarines through 2032.

The contract includes options that could raise its cumulative value to $740 million if exercised. These activities are intended to support the U.S. Navy’s shipbuilding priorities and the modernization of its strategic deterrent capabilities.

As part of the work, General Dynamics Mission Systems will carry out development, production, sparing and installation tasks for three Columbia-class submarine hulls. The program also includes support for additional laboratories and training systems.

The company will continue development efforts for the Trident II D5 Life Extension 2 fire control system under the contract. This work is intended to support long-term operational capability for the U.S. Navy’s submarine-based strategic deterrent.

Laura Hooks, vice president and general manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems, said the company has a long history supporting the U.S. submarine fleet. “General Dynamics Mission Systems has been a trusted provider of highly reliable fire control systems to the U.S. submarine force for more than seven decades.”

She added that the company intends to continue delivering advanced systems for the Navy. “We remain committed to delivering highly reliable state-of-the-art, innovative solutions to the U.S. Navy.”

Hooks also emphasized the importance of the strategic mission supported by the program. “Supporting the strategic deterrent mission is a responsibility we take seriously, and we are dedicated to continuing our track record of on-time, on-budget delivery.”
