The U.S. Senate has confirmed General Mike Guetlein as the first Direct Reporting Program Manager for Golden Dome for America. He will report directly to Deputy Secretary of Defense, Steve Feinberg.

In this newly established role, Gen. Guetlein will oversee the development of the Golden Dome portfolio of capabilities. The programme is described as President Trump’s bold vision to build a layered defence of the homeland against ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial threats.

The Office of Golden Dome for America is tasked with coordinating a broad effort to counter such threats from both near-peer and rogue nations. It will collaborate with industry, academia, national laboratories, and other government bodies to create and implement an objective defensive architecture.

Officials stated that this architecture will be shared within the next 60 days as part of ongoing national defence planning. The aim is to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced defensive systems through a whole-of-nation approach.

“We have the technological foundation, national talent, and decisive leadership to advance our nation’s defenses,” the Department of Defense said. “We are proud to stand behind Gen. Mike Guetlein as he takes the helm of this national imperative.”
