Germany remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine with equipment. The German defence industry giant, Rheinmetall, recently announced that the German government has approved the export of an additional 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. Moreover, the German government is financing these vehicles for Ukraine, with the contract valued at a high double-digit million-euro amount.
Rheinmetall is diligently working on refurbishing these older vehicles to ensure the timely delivery of the latest batch of Marder IFVs as per the contract, beginning in 2023, as stated by the German defence company. This order brings the total number of Marder vehicles to be supplied by Rheinmetall to Ukraine to eighty. The initial batch of 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles was delivered to Ukraine in March 2023.
