The EUA NT system is designed to enhance operational support for the Bundeswehr’s rotorcraft fleet, including NH90 and Tiger helicopters, ensuring readiness for the next 15 years. The upgraded system integrates modernised software, robust communication tools, and advanced IT capabilities, meeting stringent security standards up to classified levels (VS-GEHEIM).
The system comprises two types of containers: a system container and a personnel container. The system container serves as a fail-safe IT base with network technology and two workstations, forming a relocatable command cell. The personnel container complements this setup with ergonomic workstations for up to six operators, enabling seamless coordination during missions. Multiple containers can be interconnected, creating a scalable data network.
The EUA NT also features radiation-shielded units equipped with automated power generators and uninterruptible power supplies, ensuring uninterrupted operation under varied conditions. These systems reflect operational insights gained from deployments in Afghanistan and Mali, addressing both current and future needs.
HENSOLDT will now transition to series production, retrofit existing systems, and implement replication measures. The modular and open architecture of the EUA NT not only supports the Bundeswehr’s current helicopter fleet but is adaptable for future weapon systems and technological advancements.
Programme Manager Alex Irmscher highlighted the collaborative effort behind the project, stating, “With the New Technologies Mission Support System, we are creating a future-proof solution that will sustainably strengthen the operational capability of the Bundeswehr. The system’s modularity and flexibility are key to meeting the challenges of the coming years.”
