HENSOLDT unveils TAROSS electro-optical sensor system for target acquisition at DSEI 2025

By Defence Industry Europe

At DSEI in London, German sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT has presented TAROSS, a new electro-optical system designed for target acquisition and reconnaissance. The modular and scalable sensor box can be deployed on remote weapon stations, medium-calibre turrets, light reconnaissance vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles.

The system offers a direct interface to HENSOLDT’s Ceretron and can be integrated into existing or future vehicle and weapon systems. Its purpose is to enhance reconnaissance, precise target acquisition and engagement, all of which are essential elements of military operations.

To minimise risks to personnel, TAROSS allows reconnaissance and intelligence gathering to be conducted from a safe distance. “Our troops must be equipped with reliable, mission-proven and battle-tested capabilities in the areas of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR),” explains Josef Reif, Product Manager for the TAROSS system family.

The modular system has been developed to combine HENSOLDT’s optical performance with a software-defined defence approach. It offers maximum precision with sensor equipment tailored to the mission, and can be fitted with various customised sensor sets.

TAROSS is available with a fully stabilised pan-tilt unit as well as cooled and uncooled thermal imaging cameras. Its modern hardware and software architecture supports troops in the sensor-to-shooter process and reflects future trends in connectivity and software-defined defence.
