The announcement follows Honeywell’s acquisition of CAES Systems Holdings, LLC, completed in September 2024. Honeywell’s contribution to the programme will be carried out at its facility in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Navy awarded a $587.4 million contract to L3 Technologies Inc., Communication Systems-West, for the engineering and manufacturing development phase of the jammer system. Honeywell will play a key role in delivering specialised components for this effort.
“Honeywell’s world-class manufacturing facilities and specialised capabilities enable us to provide reliable solutions for some of today’s most critical missions,” said Brad Westphal, president of Electromagnetic Defensive Solutions at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. “As we work together to bring the latest technologies to our Armed Forces, we look forward to continuing to be a trusted partner of L3Harris and the Navy.”
Clayton McClain, general manager of the Mission Systems division at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, stated: “Honeywell’s Lansdale site has a proven history of developing, producing, and delivering reliable electronic warfare technology. We’re proud to support the Navy and L3Harris as they remain on the forefront of advanced technology to stay ahead of adversaries.”
The Next Generation Jammer Low Band system is designed to replace the legacy ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System used on the EA-18G Growler aircraft. It will utilise advanced software and active electronically scanned array technologies to disrupt, deny, and degrade enemy air defence and communication systems.
The system will enhance U.S. Navy electronic attack capabilities by countering a broader range of threats within the low-frequency electromagnetic spectrum. Honeywell continues to serve as a leading supplier of advanced electronic systems, combining decades of experience in electronic warfare with cutting-edge technology.
