IAI and DCX launch joint venture ELTX to boost India’s defence capabilities

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and DCX Systems Limited have announced the establishment of a new joint venture (JV) named ELTX to strengthen India’s defence sector. The partnership supports the Indian Government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives by facilitating the transfer of knowledge and high-end technology.

The JV will focus on developing advanced defence systems, including airborne radars and ground-based technologies, for India’s Armed Forces. It aims to bolster India’s self-reliance by enabling local manufacturing and enhancing indigenous capabilities.

Boaz Levy, IAI’s President and CEO, stated, “This latest strategic partnership marks yet another significant milestone in the deepening defense collaboration between Israel and India. By combining Israeli innovation with India’s growing industrial base, we are proud to co-develop next-generation technologies that address evolving security needs while advancing India’s vision of ‘Make in India’.”

ELTX represents a continuation of IAI’s longstanding investment in India’s defence ecosystem, which includes a subsidiary, partnerships with academic institutions, and a local facility for radar system maintenance in Hyderabad. These efforts aim to create jobs, upskill the local workforce, and support India’s defence manufacturing growth.

Dror Bar, IAI EVP and CEO of ELTA, said, “IAI/ELTA’s radars, airborne systems, homeland security and intelligence systems are at the forefront of the defense world for the last decades and serve India’s tri-services and Armed Forces. We are proud to significantly increase our commitment to support indigenization of our technologies in India and to establish this local JV, that will enhance the design and development of mutual defense electronics solutions.”

DCX Systems, based in Bangalore, contributes its advanced manufacturing capabilities and regional expertise to the venture. The company specialises in RF and electronic systems for the defence and aerospace sectors.

Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao, DCX’s Chairman and Managing Director, commented, “We are proud to collaborate with IAI, a world acclaimed defense leader and sign this JV, a testament of our commitment to reinforcing India’s defense capabilities. Through this JV, we will combine IAI’s innovative radar technologies with DCX’s local expertise and production infrastructure in order to deliver cutting-edge systems tailored to the growing needs of the Indian Armed Forces.”
