IDET 2025: Rheinmetall presents Boxer 8×8 with Turra 30 V10 unmanned turret

By Defence Industry Europe

At the IDET 2025 exhibition in Brno, German defence company Rheinmetall unveiled the Boxer 8x8 armoured personnel carrier in a new infantry fighting vehicle variant. The vehicle was fitted with the latest version of the Turra 30 V10 unmanned turret, developed by Czech private company EVPU.

The turret is armed with a 30mm Bushmaster II automatic cannon, a coaxial machine gun, and a twin launcher for Spike LR2 anti-tank guided missiles. Its firepower is integrated into a fire control system featuring an electro-optical gunner’s sight and a panoramic observation and targeting system for the commander.

The turret is lightly armoured with composite shielding for added protection. It also incorporates components of EVPU’s developing Harpia active protection system.

The Harpia system includes microwave radar sensors, optional electro-optical sensors, and countermeasures designed to neutralise or mislead incoming guided munitions. Additionally, the turret can be equipped with a Viper container launcher for deploying unmanned aerial vehicles.

This Boxer configuration is not intended as a direct offer for the Czech or Slovak armed forces, which have procured vehicles from the Pandur and Patria AMV XP families, respectively. However, it may be presented as a potential solution for other future customers seeking similar capabilities.
