Indra acquires Aertec DAS to strengthen Spain’s role in European drone market

By Defence Industry Europe

Indra Group has completed the acquisition of Aertec Defence & Aerial Systems (DAS), reinforcing its position in the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) market. The move strengthens Spain’s industrial base to compete for projects under the European Union’s €800 billion ReArm Europe programme, which identifies drones as a strategic capability.

Aertec DAS, a division of Aertec Solutions S.L., specialises in the development of complete medium-sized UAS of up to 150 kg. Its TARSIS family of tactical systems, already tested by the Spanish Armed Forces, represents a key asset in this growing defence segment.

“This operation is part of Indra’s strategy to become a national leader in the development of complete medium-sized UAS at a time when the market is demanding such solutions,” stated Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group. “With the incorporation of Aertec DAS, the company strengthens its new Indra Weapons & Ammunition division, focused on the development of anti-drone systems, precision-guided systems, directed energy systems, and unmanned vehicles.”

The integration enhances Indra’s capacity to engage in new European defence programmes and positions the company at the forefront of UAS innovation. Aertec DAS’s advanced engineering capabilities and proprietary TARSIS technologies are vital components in achieving this goal.

The partnership combines Indra’s experience managing major international defence programmes with Aertec DAS’s industrial production strengths and the expertise of its 46 professionals. These synergies are set to accelerate the creation of a drone technology hub in Seville with both engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
