The agreement was signed in Madrid, in the presence of Spain’s Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles Fernández, and other high-ranking officials from Spain and the UAE. Representatives included EDGE’s Managing Director and CEO, Hamad Al Marar, and Indra’s CEO, José Vicente de los Mozos, alongside their respective chairpersons, H.E. Faisal Al Bannai and Marc Murtra.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Chairman of EDGE, highlighted the transformative nature of the partnership, stating, “The establishment of PULSE marks a transformative milestone in advancing the global defence landscape by delivering state-of-the-art radar systems.” Similarly, Marc Murtra, Indra’s Chairman, emphasised the significance of expanding Indra’s global footprint, calling the agreement “an important step that will enable Indra to expand its global footprint and develop our valued relationship with EDGE.”
PULSE will operate through two entities. The first, majority-owned by Indra, will focus on research, development, and integration of radar systems. The second, primarily under EDGE’s ownership, will oversee manufacturing from a newly established factory in Abu Dhabi. Both entities aim to cater to markets outside NATO and the EU, with a projected backlog of 300 radar systems across air, land, and maritime domains.
José Vicente de los Mozos described the factory as “a new state-of-the-art facility with the most sophisticated technology, prepared to respond to the high anticipated demand for the most innovative radar systems.”
In addition to manufacturing, the venture seeks to build the UAE’s industrial capacity by training and employing Emirati professionals, including recent graduates and engineers. Specialised training programmes, advanced laboratories, and cutting-edge research infrastructure will be established to support the development of next-generation radar technologies.
Hamad Al Marar noted, “By investing in advanced production facilities, we are positioning the UAE as a global hub for radar innovation, shaping the future of defence technology across air, land, and maritime domains.”
This venture builds on a partnership that began in 2023, reflecting Indra’s Leading the Future Strategic Plan and EDGE’s vision for innovation and self-reliance. The collaboration leverages the strengths of both companies to enhance global defence capabilities while opening international markets.
