Indra to supply the NH90 simulator to the Spanish Air Force

By Defence Industry Europe

A technology company Indra has received a contract to supply the Spanish Air Force with the NH90 helicopter simulator. The value of the agreement is over EUR 19 million.

The contract was signed in mid-December 2022. According to the Spanish Directorate General of Armament and Material (DGAM), Indra will deliver to the Spanish Air Force one Full Mission Simulator (FMS) until November 2026.

It will be the third NH90 simulator delivered by Indra to the Spanish Armed Forces. In 2019-2020, the company has installed two simulators at the Aviation Academy of the Spanish Army (ACAVIET). The third simulator will be installed at the Cuatro Vientos Air Base, where Spanish Air Force deployed eight NH90 helicopters.

The simulation systems provided by Indra are integrated with the Spanish Armed Forces simulator network, allowing its pilots to carry out joint training missions with other helicopter simulators found in other army bases such as the CH-47D Chinook, the AS532 Cougar, the EC135 or the EC665 Tiger attack helicopter.

According to the Spanish Armed Forces, the use of the first two NH90 simulators provided by Indra has reduced the flight hours needed to conduct advanced training for the helicopter crews by 40 percent.
