The company has been a beneficiary of the France 2030 investment plan for space innovation for the past three years, accelerating its technology development through a Newspace approach, including for the Orbit Guard servicers. This first collaboration aims to strengthen the CDE’s capacity to protect strategic French and European assets and contributes to the growth of French Newspace capabilities.
“In recent years, our team has focused on developing innovative technologies that enable satellites to acquire new capabilities: surveillance, approach, and docking in orbit. We chose to develop these technologies using a Newspace approach, pragmatic and cost-effective, enabling the rapid deployment of our servicers. Today, we are honoured that this approach can be used to improve the operational preparation of CDE protecting the GEO belt,” said Marion Andrieux, CCO of Infinite Orbits.
The satellite, named PALADIN, belongs to Infinite Orbits’ Orbit Guard family of GEO microsatellites. It offers passive surveillance through a space-based SSA sensor suite and active surveillance with proximity inspection capability, using the company’s patented Autonomous Navigation Vision Based solution to safely rendezvous within one kilometre of another satellite.
Weighing approximately 100 kg, the micro satellite’s size gives it high agility and responsiveness for proximity operations in orbit. The system is designed to enhance GEO security by providing both observation and inspection functions from space.
