Israel acquires drones and autonomous systems from Elbit Systems in USD 40 million deal

By Defence Industry Europe

The Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) has announced a series of contracts with Elbit Systems, worth approximately USD 40 million, aimed at bolstering the Israel Defense Forces' (IDF) operational capabilities. Under these agreements, Elbit Systems will deliver advanced drones and autonomous systems designed to enhance the effectiveness of field operations.

The cutting-edge systems were jointly developed by the IMOD’s Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D), the IDF Ground Forces, and Elbit Systems. These technologies are tailored for a range of missions, including precision intelligence gathering and targeted strikes, reflecting Israel’s commitment to maintaining its technological edge on the battlefield.

Among the key elements of the deal are drones capable of operating in Seek & Strike swarms and intelligence platoons, alongside mission-specific drones equipped with advanced intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and attack functionalities. Mini-drone-based strike solutions will further enhance urban combat effectiveness, ensuring the IDF’s readiness for diverse scenarios.

In addition to drones, the contracts include the provision of resilient communication systems for unmanned platforms, underscoring the strategic partnership between the IMOD and Elbit Systems. Brigadier General Yehuda Almakias, Head of the DDR&D’s R&D Department, emphasised the significance of these acquisitions, stating: “The UAS domain enables efficient, precise, and scalable intelligence gathering and strike missions. These acquisitions ensure that troops can optimally execute their battlefield missions.”

Elbit Systems also expressed pride in its contributions. Haim Delmar, Executive Vice President and General Manager of C4i and Cyber, remarked: “Contracts such as these demonstrate the increasing confidence in Elbit’s innovative Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) technology. We are dedicated to delivering reliable and efficient systems with advanced capabilities for enhanced battlefield dominance and operational control.”
