Iveco Defence Vehicles signs contract to supply 1,453 tactical trucks to Italian Army

Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) has signed a landmark contract with the Italian Army for the supply of 1,453 tactical-logistic trucks. The agreement, made with the Direzione Armamenti Terrestri (DAT) of the Italian Ministry of Defence, marks a pivotal step in modernising the army’s fleet of logistical vehicles.

 

Deliveries are set to commence in 2025 and continue until 2038, highlighting the long-term commitment to enhancing military capabilities. The trucks, part of the new IDV SMR6 (Standard Military Range), will include 4×4, 8×8, and 10×10 variants, catering to a wide range of operational needs.

The contract covers multiple configurations, from troop and material transport to specialised vehicles such as water tankers, fuel tankers, container carriers, recovery vehicles, and towing systems. These state-of-the-art vehicles are designed to offer superior mobility, protection, and reliability, ensuring logistical efficiency across diverse terrains and missions.

 

 

Alessandro Profumo, CEO of Leonardo, parent company of IDV, expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating, “This agreement reflects the shared commitment of the Italian Ministry of Defence and IDV to provide the army with the best possible tools for their operations.”
