France’s defence procurement agency, the DGA, certified the R3 standard as “fit for service” on 8 April 2026. The French Army authorised the configuration for operational use on 20 July, clearing the way for deliveries during the summer.
The R3 standard incorporates the complete set of technical and operational capabilities planned for the Jaguar. Further deliveries and retrofits will continue through 2026, while every vehicle previously supplied at R2 standard is due to be upgraded by the end of 2027.
The Jaguar’s digitised T40 turret, designed and developed by KNDS, combines a high-rate-of-fire 40 mm cannon with Akeron MP anti-tank missiles. The weapons package is designed to engage targets at short and long range, with a stated maximum reach of 4,000 metres.
New-generation sensors and effectors are paired with the ability to redesignate missiles during flight. An upgraded human-machine interface consolidates information from the sensors, fire-control system and other vehicle systems to support faster crew decisions.
The Jaguar is designed and produced by an industrial consortium comprising KNDS France, Arquus and Thales. KNDS supplies the weapons system, Thales provides the common vetronics, and Arquus is responsible for the vehicle’s mobility system.
KNDS is also the industrial architect and systems integrator for the Jaguar and Griffon vehicles under the French Army’s SCORPION programme. The company leads their design, production and in-service support with its consortium partners and a wider base of suppliers and subcontractors.
Belgium and Luxembourg have selected the Jaguar under the CaMo programme. KNDS said several additional export campaigns are under way.
