KNDS Deutschland has been awarded a contract to produce 38 BOXER sgSanKfz (heavily protected ambulance vehicles) and ten BOXER driving school vehicles for the German Armed Forces. The €352 million contract was issued through ARTEC, the joint venture between KNDS and Rheinmetall Landsysteme, and includes options for an additional 150 ambulances and 100 training vehicles.

Delivery of the 48 confirmed systems is scheduled to begin in early 2028. As the first stage in the military medical evacuation chain, the BOXER Ambulance enables effective pre-hospital treatment for various types of injuries.

The ambulance variant features a modular mission compartment capable of accommodating multiple casualties, including those requiring intensive care. It offers the same level of crew protection as the BOXER infantry variant, making it one of the best-protected medical vehicles available.

“The order for the new BOXER sgSanKfz is an important step for us to make the medical service of the Bundeswehr even more operational,” said Dr. Ralf Ketzel, CEO of KNDS Deutschland. “At the same time, the driver training vehicle ensures that the German Armed Forces always have enough trained personnel for the entire BOXER fleet.”

The BOXER driving school vehicle is designed solely for use in peacetime training and supports the process of obtaining a BOXER driver’s licence. Its driving characteristics and overall weight closely match those of the combat-ready variants, eliminating the need for extra training when transitioning between models.
