Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has renewed its long-term cooperation agreement with Safran Power Units for the supply of TR40 turbojet engines powering the Naval Strike Missile (NSM). The renewed agreement includes an order for several hundred engines, reinforcing a partnership that supports growing international demand.

Safran has been providing propulsion for the NSM for several years, contributing to its success within NATO and the European Union. The expanded cooperation aims to increase production capacity to meet rising demand from allied nations.

“This Long-Term Cooperation Agreement is an example of how Kongsberg collaborates with strategic suppliers to respond to the strong demand we see for our strike missiles across NATO and allied nations,” said Øyvind Kolset, Executive Vice President, Missiles and Space, at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

“We are proud to sign this milestone agreement, positioning Safran as a strategic partner of Kongsberg on the NSM, which has met remarkable success within European and NATO armed forces,” stated Ghislaine Doukhan, CEO of Safran Power Units.

The NSM is a highly survivable, precision-guided anti-ship missile developed by Kongsberg and first deployed in 2012 by the Royal Norwegian Navy. It has since been selected by numerous countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and several other NATO and allied nations.
