The Kongsberg MCT turrets, known for their advanced combat capabilities, are equipped with a 30/40 mm Bushmaster II cannon and a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, with optional configurations for anti-tank missile launchers and laser-guided rocket systems. This equipment will be integrated into production batches 5 and 6 of the ACV-30 vehicles, enhancing firepower and combat versatility.
The contract, managed by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia, also includes program support, specialised tools, turret software, system integration support, and development for logistical management and training materials. A portion of the funding, USD 51 million, is sourced from the U.S. Marine Corps’ fiscal year 2024 budget savings.
Work on this contract will be conducted at Kongsberg’s U.S. facility in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with an expected completion date of 4 June 2028. The Kongsberg MCT system was recently showcased at the Eurosatory 2024 defence exhibition in Paris, highlighting its compatibility with various military platforms, including the ACV from BAE Systems, further demonstrating its role as a versatile solution for modern armoured vehicles.
