Kuwait buys Bayraktar TB2 drones

By Defence Industry Europe

Turkish aerospace & defence industry company Baykar signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence of Kuwait for Bayraktar TB2 drones.

The value of the contract is USD 370 million, Baykar announced on social media.

Baykar and the Kuwait Ministry of Defence officially have not disclosed the number of drones which Turkish companies will deliver under this contract.

However, the website middleeasteye.net said (based on the information from an anonymous source “familiar with agreement”) that Kuwait ordered 18 Bayraktar TB2 drones.

According to middleeasteye.net, unmanned aircraft vehicles are only a part of the deal. The website also said that Kuwait ordered the weapons for the Bayraktar TB2s: 100 MAM-L guided bombs for each drone.

Baykar stressed that Kuwait’s ministry of defence selected the Baryakar TB2 in a tender launched in 2019. Apart from the Turkish drone manufacturer companies from America, Europe, and China participated in this bidding process.

The contract signed with Kuwait is the next export success of Bayraktar TB2. Last month – as reported by Defence Industry Europe – Baykar signed a contract with Albania for three Bayraktar TB2s.
