L3Harris and Thales UK partner to develop integrated SHORAD command and control capability

By Defence Industry Europe

L3Harris Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding with Thales UK to jointly develop an integrated short-range air defence (SHORAD) command and control system. The collaboration brings together L3Harris’ Target Orientated Tracking System with Thales’ Agile C4I at the Edge (ACE) platform to deliver enhanced battlefield awareness and coordination.

The joint solution aims to support the UK’s defence priorities by improving situational awareness and enabling faster, more accurate decision-making in complex operational environments. “L3Harris is proud to provide advanced technology in support of the UK’s defence priorities,” said Ed Zoiss, President of Space and Airborne Systems at L3Harris.

By combining sensor data across multiple domains, the integrated system will create a clearer and more comprehensive common operating picture for UK forces. “Rapid, reliable delivery of intelligence from various sensors across the battlespace will provide UK forces with a better common operating picture and will enable more informed decision-making,” Zoiss added.

Together, L3Harris and Thales bring over 80 years of combined experience in delivering command, control, communications, computers, intelligence (C4I), and ground-based air defence (GBAD) systems to the UK. Their existing technologies are already in use, helping to safeguard critical infrastructure across the country.
