Project Convergence is an Army experimentation campaign focused on emerging technologies and future operational concepts.
CORVUS-RAVEN passively detects signals associated with potential drone threats and provides bearing information to operators.
Placing the system on a mobile robotic platform allows it to move closer to likely threat approaches and change position as operational requirements evolve.
“By mounting CORVUS-RAVEN on a remotely controlled uncrewed ground vehicle, we explored how operators could extend passive sensing into forward or hazardous areas, enhance situational awareness and reduce personnel exposure,” said Nicky Tabram, Managing Director, Global Spectrum Superiority UK, L3Harris.
The demonstration paired L3Harris’ counter-drone technology with ARX Robotics’ modular Gereon platform, which is designed to transport different mission payloads.
CORVUS-RAVEN’s open architecture can generate TAK-compatible messages and connect with command-and-control and battle-management applications.
The system can add threat-bearing information to a shared geospatial operating picture and provide an integrated electronic defeat function without separate external equipment.
“This is exactly the role we see for modular ground robotics: carrying mission-critical technologies where they are needed, while keeping people farther from the threat,” said David Roberts, CEO of ARX Robotics UK.
L3Harris said the use of modular hardware and open architectures reduced integration barriers and allowed the two technologies to be combined more quickly.
Lessons from the demonstration will inform future development and other potential uses of counter-drone systems on robotic platforms.
