To support frontline operations, Ukraine will receive combat damage repair kits enabling troops to carry out field repairs when evacuation is not possible. This donation marks the completion of Latvia’s pledge to supply 42 “Patria” 6×6 armoured personnel carriers to Ukraine.
“Since the very first day of Russia’s invasion, Latvia has supported Ukraine and the efforts of its defenders to protect their country. The donation of armoured vehicles manufactured in Latvia is a significant contribution to Ukraine’s defenders and an opportunity to test the endurance and performance of these Latvian-made vehicles in real combat conditions,” emphasised Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds.
Latvia has committed to maintaining its military assistance to Ukraine as the war continues. By the end of 2025, its military support is expected to reach 0.3% of GDP.
Alongside its material support, Latvia is also running an extensive training programme for Ukrainian soldiers. The aim is to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capacity in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
