Leidos secures USD 987 million contract for F-16 sustainment services

By Defence Industry Europe

Leidos, a leading American defence company, has been awarded a significant contract by the U.S. Air Force to provide essential engineering and sustainment services for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers of the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The contract, valued at up to USD 987 million, was granted by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, which oversees the F-16 System Program Office.

The 10-year, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) agreement is aimed at ensuring the operational readiness and long-term sustainability of the globally utilised F-16 platform. The aircraft, known for its versatility, is currently operated by over 25 nations, with an active fleet of approximately 2,200 aircraft worldwide.

Leidos has highlighted its innovative use of technology as a key factor in securing the contract. “We leveraged our corporate investments in AI and predictive analytics to provide our customer with a data-informed platform to increase efficiency, visibility and accountability,” said Roy Stevens, Leidos National Security Sector president. “This win underlines Leidos’ commitment to supporting the U.S. Air Force and our allies, ensuring high resilience and interoperability.”

As part of the agreement, Leidos will deliver post-production support, focusing on engineering improvements and sustainment services. A core component of their approach is the Leidos Web Based Management System, which offers real-time visibility into repair asset tracking for the repair and return lifecycle. This system aims to streamline processes, resolve technical issues more effectively, and mitigate risks associated with diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon remains a cornerstone of international air defence, and this contract further solidifies Leidos’ role in supporting allied nations and their strategic capabilities.
