Leonardo is advancing the future of military pilot training through the international FITS4TOP project, an innovative system designed to enhance Live, Virtual and Constructive training capabilities. The project aims to strengthen advanced training syllabi by integrating real flight activity with simulated and computer-generated operational elements.

FITS4TOP is co-funded by the European Union under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme 2019, which supports innovation and competitiveness within the EU defence industry. The solution is fully integrated into Leonardo’s M-346 advanced jet trainer and its Ground-Based Training Systems.

A recent demonstration at Leonardo’s Venegono Superiore site in Italy validated the FITS4TOP technology demonstrator using an M-346 aircraft and its ground-based training systems. Attended by European institutions and defence representatives from Italy, Denmark, France and Romania, the event marked the conclusion of the technology development phase launched in 2020 under Leonardo’s coordination.
