Lithuanian Armed Forces receive more Javelin anti-tank guided missiles

By Defence Industry Europe

The Lithuanian Armed Forces have received a new shipment of US-made Javelin anti-tank guided missiles, valued at approximately 16.6 million euros, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence announced on Tuesday.

Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas emphasized the importance of this delivery, stating, “The United States of America is a strategic partner of Lithuania and one of the key allies to ensure the security of the Baltic region. Javelin anti-tank systems received and procured from the United States undoubtedly contribute to the long-term enhancement of the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ combat capabilities and deterrence.”

The ministry highlighted that the replenishment of the national stockpile with Javelin systems is particularly significant amid the ongoing geopolitical tension resulting from Russia’s war against Ukraine. Lithuania has sourced over 20 percent of its new military equipment and weapons from the US, according to the ministry.

Javelin anti-tank systems are manufactured by the Javelin Joint Venture, a collaboration between American defense giants Lockheed Martin and Raytheon.
