Lockheed Martin delivers 47 F-35 Lightning II fighter jets in first quarter of 2025

By Defence Industry Europe

On 23 April, Lockheed Martin Corporation announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025, alongside updated delivery figures for its aircraft programmes. In total, the company delivered 62 aircraft to customers during the period, a significant increase compared to the 20 units delivered in the same quarter of 2024.

The improvement is primarily attributed to the resumption of deliveries of the F-35 Lightning II multi-role combat aircraft, which had been suspended in early 2024. Of the 62 aircraft delivered in the first quarter of 2025, 47 were F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.

Additionally, Lockheed Martin delivered four F-16C/D Fighting Falcon Block 70/72 aircraft, compared to three units delivered during the same period last year. The company also supplied one C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, a decrease from the four delivered in the first quarter of 2024.

In the helicopter segment, Lockheed Martin delivered a total of ten helicopters, which is three fewer than in the previous year’s first quarter. These deliveries included one under a commercial contract and nine under federal contracts.

It is notable that the aircraft order backlog decreased by nearly USD 5 billion compared to 2024. In contrast, the helicopter, mission systems, air-launched weaponry, and fire control systems segments experienced an increase in orders, reflecting growing demand for cruise missiles and air defence systems.
