Lockheed Martin delivers 900th THAAD interceptor to U.S. Missile Defense Agency

Lockheed Martin has delivered its 900th Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor to the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The THAAD system is designed to counter short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats by intercepting them both inside and outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

Lockheed Martin has delivered its 900th Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor to the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The THAAD system is designed to counter short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats by intercepting them both inside and outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

 

This milestone highlights THAAD’s strategic role in deterring and addressing evolving global security threats. Lockheed Martin remains committed to working alongside industry and government partners to strengthen missile defence capabilities for the United States and its allies.

The THAAD Weapon System has a perfect flight test intercept record, reinforcing its reputation as a combat-proven defence solution. The system has also been successfully integrated with the PAC-3 MSE interceptor, enhancing its role within a broader, networked missile defence architecture.

Dan Nimblett, vice president of Upper Tier Integrated Air and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin, emphasised the system’s importance in protecting national and allied security. He stated that the company will continue to develop and deliver this proven capability to address the increasing demand for reliable missile defence systems.
