The United States Department of Defense has awarded a USD 869,947,066 contract to Lockheed Martin to commence work on producing F-35 stealth fighter jets from Lot 20. The funding will cover the procurement of long-lead materials, components, and associated production support, which are crucial to maintaining the production schedule.

F-35 aircraft from Lot 20 will serve the US Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, as well as international buyers through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. Work on the contract will take place across multiple locations, with the majority (59%) concentrated in Fort Worth, Texas.
