The partnership brings together MAN and RMMV vehicle platforms with WB Group’s command, communications, reconnaissance and unmanned systems. The companies plan to explore joint development, integration and production of military mobility solutions for European armed forces.
Their work will focus on scalable and interoperable systems that can be adapted to different operational requirements. The partners will also assess new commercial and technology opportunities across the European defence market.
MAN will offer non-combat logistics and support vehicles under the STAR name in Poland. The potential customer base includes the Polish Armed Forces, the Red Cross, emergency services and fire brigades.
A STAR-branded logistics vehicle based on the MAN TGS 6×6 was presented at MSPO. MAN and RMMV also intend to use the brand to expand cooperation with Polish bodybuilders and other local companies.
“The growing demand for logistics capabilities and the shifting geopolitical realities require strong industrial partnerships and reliable solutions,” said Alexander Vlaskamp, chief executive of MAN Truck & Bus. “With our ‘Made in Poland’ approach and our revived STAR brand, we are combining local production, a strong service network and close cooperation with Polish partners to develop mission-oriented transport solutions.”
Future STAR vehicles will use MAN’s current TGM and TGS platforms. Their chassis will be produced at the company’s Kraków plant and will incorporate its latest assistance and safety systems.
The STAR relaunch sits within MAN’s broader industrial expansion in Poland, where it employs around 7,000 people. The company recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Polish government covering about €1.2 billion of investment at the Kraków site.
MAN plans to more than double the truck plant’s production area from about 130,000 square metres to 270,000 square metres. The expanded facility will be able to produce as many as 300 vehicles and cabs a day, including next-generation trucks and electric vehicles.
The company also operates a bus plant in Starachowice and a modification centre in Sady, while the MAN TGE is produced in Poznań. It delivered about 9,000 vehicles in Poland in 2025 through a network of almost 40 sales and service locations.
Founded in 1948, STAR supplied civilian and military transport vehicles in Poland for decades. More than 10,000 STAR vehicles remain in service following MAN’s acquisition and gradual introduction of its technology into the range.
RMMV is a joint venture owned 51% by Rheinmetall and 49% by MAN Truck & Bus. WB Group brings capabilities in C4ISR, drones, loitering munitions, cybersecurity and vehicle integration to the partnership.
