The new function will focus on group-level strategy and technology, including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and ventures. Marcus Wandt is currently Chief Innovation Officer at Saab and brings extensive experience from both the aerospace and defence sectors.
A former Swedish Air Force fighter pilot, Wandt previously served as Chief Test Pilot at Saab. In 2024, he was part of the European Space Agency’s mission to the International Space Station.
“Technology research and partnerships are strategic priorities for Saab to ensure we stay at the forefront of innovation as technological development continues at a very high pace,” said Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab. “Marcus has an exceptional track record in terms of his technology and innovation expertise while he is also a strong and visionary leader,” he added.
Wandt’s appointment aims to further reinforce Saab’s strategic direction in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The new function is expected to play a key role in maintaining Saab’s competitive edge through advanced innovation and collaboration.
