MBDA Deutschland partners with IAI for Arrow 3 program

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and MBDA Deutschland have signed a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with respect to the implementation of the Arrow 3 program in Germany.

 

The signing follows United States government approval for the procurement of the Arrow 3 weapon system by Germany. The aim under the agreement with MBDA is to support the necessary measures to adapt, integrate and maintain the system in Germany. Subject to the entering into of the said subcontract, MBDA will coordinate German industry activities needed to support the Program.

The Arrow 3 system, an upper tier exo-atmospheric interceptor for long-range threat engagement, is an essential part of Germany’s Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) strategic capability. As IAI’s prime contractor in Germany, MBDA Deutschland and will support both IAI and the Bundeswehr to achieve and go beyond initial operational capability.

IAI’s President and CEO, Boaz Levy: “The signing of the cooperation Memorandum of Understanding between Israel Aerospace Industries and MBDA Germany represents a significant milestone toward beginning joint activities to supply the Arrow 3 system to defend Germany’s citizens. The Arrow system, the result of development by IAI, in close cooperation with Israel’s Ministry of Defense, Israel’s Air Force, and the United States Missile Defense Agency (MDA), was operational proven over a number of years, and through jointly-conducted tests. Germany’s purchase of Arrow-3 reflects the advanced technological capabilities of the system and IAI. With its experience in Air Defence, system integration, logistics and maintenance, MBDA is the perfect partner for IAI and Bundeswehr.”
